What Is A Ringing System?
The current model of bellringing in American Orthodox churches is missing the most important element:
the ringing system.
Although plenty of churches already have bells, almost all of them have been installed in way that makes it impossible to ring well.
Improvised solutions cause more problems than they intend to solve:
✗ belfry design isn't functional
✗ bells are out of reach
✗ peals sound stilted and unmusical
✗ can only ring with 3+ people
✗ can't ring on weekdays
What Is A Ringing System?
The ringing system used in Orthodox churches around the world allows one person to ring all the bells in a musical and coordinated way.
Here’s How It Works
The largest 1–3 bells are rung by gently depressing the foot pedal(s).
The middle bells are rung by pushing down with the left hand on horizontal lines that attach to the post.
The smallest 2–3 bells are rung by thin ropes tied together in a knot, held in the bellringer's right hand.
